I need to apologize to my fans for the belated blog from our Friday March 20th adventure to Mellow Mushroom in Mt. Pleasant. March Madness has us all glued to the television with our brackets. Ahhhhhh Mellow Mushroom. Where do I begin? I know land in Mt. Pleasant is hard to come by and not very cheap but come on guys can we at least get an entrance off of Hwy 17.
I will admit I was very hesitant in saying yes to the Mellow Mushroom trip because I know what kind of prices we are dealing with. By the way I think Mellow Mushroom could have saved a good $5,000 by not building that "trippy" ball fountain as I walked in. What is that? Anyway, my fellow lunchspotters did mention to me that their was a $7.00 special which includes one slice, one tossed salad, and a drink of your choice (minus alcohol). I don't know if any of my fans have seen me physically but I enjoy eating and I like a lot of food. One slice, one salad, and a drink is not filling up this keg of a stomach.
As we walked in the atmosphere was great! Basketball on every TV with Direct TV showing 4 games at once! All we asked for was to be positioned near TV's. Evidently the section to our right was closed which had very exciting tables waiting for us to sit at. And of course no booths were available. That bothers me when you see a guy and a girl having a cute lunch date sitting at a huge booth together. Just get a table so when a party of 4 or more shows up they can have a comfortable booth to sit in. So we were seated in the middle of a very cramped and crowded eating area near the bar. I felt very uncomfortable with our seat. I felt like the world was getting ready to watch me eat a scorching hot pizza (which I'll get to later). OK, moving on.
I decided to go with the 10" cheese pizza for $8.25. No toppings though, and I'm ok with that. My 3 lunchspotters received their salads first, which were a nice size and I was a little jealous. Fellow lunchspotter Matt was very happy with his green olives until the bill came. I thought that was hilarious! My waitress told me at least 3 times that it would be 30 more seconds until my pizza coming. Just tell me it will be out soon that way I'm not looking over Matt's head and through the giant tripped out magic cap next to us for my pizza.
My pizza has finally arrived and I am excited. It looks great! I love Mellow Mushroom crust from previous experiences. My waitress forgot to tell me that it just came out of the oven though. My pizza put the sun to shame with temperature. My fellow lunchspotter Jay thought this was the funniest thing ever. Not funny at all when you burn all tastebuds before you can get one good bite in. Probably my fault though. I should have known.
Overall my pizza was very tasty and good size for one person. The extra $1.25 was well worth it. I would have to give Mellow Mushroom on this trip a solid 7.0.
Time: Waitress screwed the pooch on this one. Not that long though.
Price: Pretty Good. I ordered well though
Experience: Not bad. I will return for the sequel if my partners would like to adventure
Atmosphere: Great! Basketball was on. Seating could have been better though.
Facilites: Very Clean. I would recommend a lunchdump there.
Highs on Trip: My pizza and the price.
Lows on Trip: Seeing the overall menu and prices. Too pricy for this guy.
Advice: Give it a whirl. I definitely recommend the $8.25 10" chesse pizza. Just wait for it to cool down.
