Dog and Duck.....Thank God for my tax return!

I would personally like to thank our followers on voting for Thursday's adventure and having it drawn out of a hat. We did just that. Actually all four of us drew one place out of the hat and then I drew one from those four places. Dog and Duck here we come!

As we arrived to Dog and Duck I noticed that their were not many parking spots available and not many people were inside. More than likely all the cars were from Moes Southwest Grill customers because some establishment (no names being said) decided to make Moes parking area look like a U-Haul parking lot. Anyway, luckily I found a spot back in the corner right next to the dumpster. No fumes though! That's a good sign.

As I walked up to Dog and Duck I noticed we might have 3 guest appearances at lunch today from our soccer friends. Jeremy Aven (former member of MPSC) and Matt Parmer (current MPSC member) were sitting outside at a table while Kian (current/former/current MPSC member) was on the phone having a serious conversation with the Indian girl from "Bend it like Beckham" about coaching in Mt. Pleasant. I decided to ask them if it was ok if we sat inside today because my favorite table was available near one of the TV's and the special board. Speaking of the special board. WOW! The Cowboy Burger looked really good except it was $8.95.

As I skimmed the menu I noticed that the Yetiburger had all the same ingredients as the Cowboy Burger minus the onion ring and an onion roll for $1.00 less. Come on! $1.00 for an onion ring? Let's go people! Your not outsmarting this heavy eater. I just ordered my Yeti with an onion roll instead of sourdough.

So I went with the Yetiburger. I'm excited and I saved $1.00. So as we sat there we all got to hear from former local celebrity Jeremy Aven about his move to Savannah and about how his tax guy does waaaaay too much Red Bull before seeing clients. It was really good to see him again. Kian was very nice to let us munch on his fries that he did not want during this conversation. Matt and Kian were very much into their Blackberry's during this time. It was either very important stuff from that Indian girl again or just online pornography. You be the judge.

My meal is here and it looks great! Fellow lunchspotter Ish did have a slight pause when he noticed that his turkey-bacon grill was not piled high with turkey and both sides of his bread looked like my mirror after a huge zit was conquered. Anyway, back to me. My burger looked and tasted great. I did have a couple wierd bites not knowing if the patty was premade or fresh. But all in all good. My side of baked potato salad (comes with my meal by choice) has great flavor and pretty good texture. It was a little more creamy and runny that I've had in the past. But still not bad at all. Our waitress (future follower) did a great job of keeping my drink full and changing channels when asked. I would like to give her a shoutout for that.

Overall I would give this adventure to Dog and Duck a solid 7.5.

Time: My meal did come last, but not crying about it. Normal time (roughly 7-10 minutes)
Price: $10.64 with tip. Too pricey for this guy and some unusual taxes all over my bill.
Experience: I will return down the road once I save money to eat there.
Atmosphere: Good. Nice and roomy with TV's. Very clean too.
Facilities: Average lunchdump spot. Crack in the door gives strangers the opportunity to see what's going on in there though.
Highs on Trip: Seeing Jeremy Aven again
Lows on Trip: Dog and Duck Prices! Too Much!
Advice: Go there with a rich friend that you know will pick up the bill.

See you next week!

  1. I also enjoyed the company today. Seating was great and the wait staff did a good job keeping up with the move of the soccer guys. I enjoyed the golf club very much. The only thing that Dog and Duck hasn't figured out is pricing. Everything seems to be $1 or $2 overpriced. I also think that in order to have a true "special board" it shouldn't include a regular menu item thrown on a different roll with an onion ring on top. Nothing too special about that in my opinion!

  2. Well... I hated it. Sorry, I know, but really, I did. Stomach didn't feel good afterwards. Too much Mayo when I ordered light mayo. And quite honestly, I really hate their bread. Sourdough and Texas Toast are obviously the same thing there and they are heavily buttered and way too crunchy. It's like they find their stale bread, butter it, throw it on the grill and call it sourdough. No thanks. Drink was 1.89. To go drink was average (about 16 oz.) Server really didn't interact, just not real happy with it. Sorry.

IshRating: 4.5 (Would pass on next visit)
