King Street Grillehhhh

You know some people might call me picky in my eating habits. I understand that. I don’t see it as picky. I enjoy flavors. I enjoy the myriad of flavors of a nice white cheese dip nestled in between handmade salsa with cilantro and a warm crisp corn tortilla. I look forward to at anytime being able to savor the taste of a simple red sauce and fresh mozzarella atop a delicious hand rolled crust. Those flavors excite my palate. What I got today from the latest lunchspot.com outing at the King Street Grille Mount Pleasant was far from exciting. You may wonder why the extra ‘e’ in Grille? On today’s trip it stood for ‘ehhhh’, because that’s how my experience went.

I know you may be wondering why we decided to take an upgrade and dump the ‘recession friendly’ concept that got us started, but today at King Street as every Wednesday is Half-Price Burgers! Woohoo. Half-Price of a $10 burger. I know what you’re thinking. Wow, King Street must grind their own beef at such a pricey establishment. If they do, they don’t whip that out on half-price day. Good News: you get two patties. Bad News: they are pre-formed frozen stomach grenades that you can buy at Sam’s and feed to your neighbors dog so he gets the runs and screws up your neighbors cookout you weren’t invited to. Not to mention, they don’t do special orders very well. I know I’m picky, but obviously asking for 1000 Island dressing on the side, is now a ‘special order’. I was a trooper when it came to me with more pink mayonnaise on it than Ru’ Paul’s make-up in San Francisco at a Rainbow parade to celebrate the life of Mary Kay. Even so, I tried to eat it, but eventually sent it back and it was replaced with another sub-par burger that left me wondering why Jay loves King Street so much. So:

Time: one hour
Price: $9 with drink (to go drink was a shot glass)
Experience: Terrible would suffice
Bathroom: not needed until I got in the car and somebody pulled the pin

Highs: good music

Lows: the eating part.

Advice: Hold on to your colon.

Until next time….

  1. Kind of getting brainwashed with the patty's now. My Sante Fe Burger was tasty and I do love the fries and chipotle mayo though. Drinks could have been filled a little quicker. Not a terrible day though. I give King Street Grille a 7.5 that week. Could have been 8.0 if not for the brainwashing.
